It sounds like you mother isn't taking this seriously. Either that or she doesn't want to confront the problem because she doesn't know how to deal with the fact that her daughter has a serious problem. You seriously need to talk to her and try to get her to take this seriously. Try writing it all out in a letter and giving it to her or reading it to her so that she can't interrupt. If she still refuses to get you to a therapist, then there are other courses you can take.

Do you have a way to get ahold of your father or is he someone who would be able to step in? If he's out of your life due to death or if he's not a person you could go to due to some kind of past, then that's one avenue that is closed to you, but there are still others. You may be able to get ahold of a family member like an aunt of grandparent who would be able to talk to your mother on your behalf and intervene.

Your depression might be caused by a medical problem and clinical depression (which is caused by chemical imbalances within the brain) is a serious problem by itself. If a parent refuses to provide needed medical care to a child, it is neglect. She needs a wake-up call. You may be able to get social services or child services involved. A social worker at her door with a court order and the potential of serious charges of child neglect may be that wake-up call. I honestly don't have a very high opinion of your mother right now. From my end, she seems a bit selfish and incompetent. Again, she does need a serious wake-up call. I'd **** for that wake-up call to be in the form of you deteriorating further or worse before she finally does her parental duty. You should NOT have to pay for her incompetence! Nor should you be put in a position to have to deal with this alone. You can't overcome depression without help. Your "mother" very well may be sentencing you to death with her neglect. You may not be suicidal now, but that doesn't mean you won't be in the future.

I can empathise with you.
I'm a 14 year old girl..
My mom found out I was self harming, and threatened to take me to the doctors, secretly, I new I should, go, but I asked her not to, and she said okay, as long as I promised her never to do it again. I used to cry every night, and get so lonely. Then I turned to drink. It was horrible.

You reallyy need to talk to somebody.
I'm probably not the right person to be giving you advice on this, but I kind of know how you feel, to be depressed and have nobody. And I guess till somebody has been through that sadness and lowness in there life they will not understand what it feels like.

It's only a matter of time before you say, enough is enough, I want to end it. That's why you need to get some help.

You don't need your mom to get the help for you.

Don't just jump to anti depressants, try other cures first.

Like writing a journel fexampleple.
You could always write your mom a letter to say how you feel.
Or show her the question that you have posted, she might get the message then. She obviously has noticed you're down. amd doesn't now how to cope worth it, or what to say.
I hope I helped. And good luck for the future. Becky. x

There are no over the counter depression DRUGS....but you CAN buy B-vitamins and this stuff called 5-HTP at drugstores which will both help you feel a a tad better. They give you a more positive outlook on life. You can try aromatherapy. They have all sorts at Bath and Body Works. You can take up a hobby. Just something to motivate you a bit. Maybe you could get a job? It will give you a sense of accomplishment AND money! Try these things out, see how you feel. Good luck

Ufortunately there are no over the counter anti-depressants. But there are crisis numbers that are staffed by professionals who can help you with this. One is 1-800-273-talk and another is 1-800-999-9999. There doesn't have to be an emergency for you to call. They can give you expert advice as to what to do about your problem. You can also go to nami.org they are the National Alliance for The Mentally Ill. You can get any information that you want about depression. These are experts and I think your mother needs an education about depression. Many don't understand it as your mother doesn't. You can print out whatever you find that you think would be the most descriptive and print it out. Your mother needs to sit down and read about what you are suffering. You need a psychiatrist, who is the specialist, who can diagnose and treat you. There are many safe medications that will help you. You don't deserve to live with this. Your mother has to know the seriousness of what you are suffering. You can also go to the emergency room they are equipped to deal with those in your situation. I wish you the best!!!

Is there a free clinic or a "LifeLine" where you live? Maybe your Mom realized that you don't have coverage for this and she simply can't afford the costs involved. Not everyone is covered for mental health issues and there are ALOT of people not coverd for anything. Talk to your Mom - maybe she can help find a no fee or sliding scale therapist for you.
