You should be thinking about the panic of GETTING depressed
My care for is the same and I have soxial anxiety disorder/depression also linked with that,
I found medication helpful but like you was discontinued.
It is impossible to just ‘suck up’ a chemical imbalance. You need to be medicated in order to feel better. I would speak to your doctor, give reasons for to him how your parents feel and maybe he can have a talk with your mom about your condition.
Other than that, just try to reckon positive thoughts, try to stay pleased and not worry about it. The more you worry the more likely it will return. Try to focus on other things and keep yourself busy and free from stress.
Excellent Luck
Until the underlying cause of your depression is dealt with it will likely return. Medication can be a life savor for many public and there should be no shame if you can be helped by it. For some public depression is nearly completely biochemical, for some public depression is nearly completely situational but for most public it is a combination of the two.
Counseling can help with a excellent councilor. I’ve had about a dozen therapists over the years and only two have ever really helped. I personally don’t believe it is necessary to spend years delving into all the details of your life to get better. What most public need is tools to deal with their life, not to drudge up all the crap from the past. OK, it is your parents fault (it nearly always is), so what, they did the best they could. What are you going to do about it as it is your life.
If you are over 18, you can make up your own mind about if you should be on Zoloft and go to counseling. It is not your mothers life and only you can know what is working for you and what isn’t.
Excellent luck!
Maybe you can try living with depression instead of trying to eliminate it. Look around you, any normal person can not help but feel depress. Keep yourself preoccupied and you won’t even notice it.
100%, cast iron. If the meds are working for you, why would you want to stop? Unless it’s a financial issue….
The QUESTION is why do you feel so DEPRESSED??What happend to you when you were younger that made you feel this way?? Did someone do something to hurt you? You have to look back and check to see what went incorrect and try to confront that of course with the help of a professional. And please don’t be worried of what mom has to say. Stay safe or get out while you can.

Excellent advice and that has helped with me. Why is your mom hostile to treatment for your depression? If you had high blood difficulty or high cholesterol or anything physical, you’d get treatment for that, wouldn’t you? This is no different really.
I’ve found that cognitive behavioral therapy helps me quite a bit.
Talk to your doctor prescribing the Zoloft. Let him or her know what is going on and your concerns.
He or she may be able to work with you and your mom to get to the bottom of why she feels the way she does and to resolve it.
Excellent luck.
