I dont know if you will like these but i would reccommend any by Ellen Hopkins. These are Burned, Glass, Impulse, and Crank. These are based on teen choices and the way they have affected their lives. Burned is one of the books that deals with teens that have been put in the psyc ward because of attempted *******.

"Hope Rising" and "Bridge Called Hope," Kim Meeder,
"When Invisible Children Sing," Chi Cheng Huang, M.D.,
"Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians," Brandon Sanderson (fiction, but good),
"The Overachievers," Alexandra Robbins,
"Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, Ph.D., and
"The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis (fiction, but powerful).

Also worthwhile: the coming of age problems given in "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock,

Hi--I have depression too, along w/ Social Anxiety Disorder. I just got done reading "Prozac Nation" by Elizabeth Wurtzel. It was really good. I **** self-help books also when it comes to psychology. "Girl, Interrupted" by Susanna Kaysen is also good. If you want something a little bit more "out-of-the-box" try "Devil in the Details" by Jennifer Traig--it is a little bit more on the lines of OCD, but you get the point. Great Question btw!!

you can read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." its by stephen chobsky.

the main character isn't really depressed or suicidal

but its about a boy with emotional problems who becomes best friends with these two high school seniors. its about him dealing with different problems like drugs, sex, pregnancy, abuse and stuff. i thought it was a really good book. it does actually have some depression and a kid does commit ******* in it though...

overall one of my favorite books, i thought it was really great.

here's the wiki site:
