I would suggest reading 'Happiness is a Choice'

Even though it's faith-based, it carries a lot of insight into physical/physiological/environmental/etc. causes of depression, and ways to help beat it. Although it can be dense at times, it's a fairly easy, straightforward read and has some very good points. ie, when you get stressed out, your body actually releases a chemical that can make you sick or weaker.

If you want a funny book to cheer you up, try any of 'The Pirates! . . .' books by Gideon Defoe.

Don't listen to Margee. It isn't anywhere near that simple. Depression is a due to chemical imbalance in the brain, and people can't just snap out of it.

Try "Darkness Visible" by William Styron. Beautifully written and insightful
